Fabric with regular symmetrical pattern is more challenging for reupholster dining room chairs than working with solid tissue or tissue with an irregular pattern. You will need to purchase extra fabric to allow the default setting. The amount of extra fabric required varies with the size of the print.
Directions to reupholster dining room chairs: place the seat and remove the screws. Turn the cushion and remove the clips. Measure the length and width of the piece of tissue removed. Measure the repetition of the new fabric in both directions. Add the repetition of measurements to determine the amount of fabric you will need. Cut a piece of fabric.

Mark the center of all the edges of your chair with pins. Pour the piece of tissue out flat. Fold the fabric along this line. Align the folds of fabric with the pins on the edges of the chair. Turn the pad over and pull the fabric tightly around each side. Staple the tissue in place over the stop edges 2 inches from the corners.
Fold the corners at an angle of 45 degrees and clip them in place. Finally, to reupholster dining room chairs, trim the excess fabric and screw the pad back into the chair. Remove any remaining pins.
